Hello,

I will soon be in Hanoi and am looking for some good budget accommodation. I have looked on google and this website for ideas but would like to hear from people that have actually visited some of these guesthouses. Any recommendations?

Thanks...

What is your budget? Some travellers budget 100 dollars a night, some want 2 dollars a night?

Hi,

We stayed at the Thien Tan hotel on Cha Ca street in the old quarter for $10 per night (low season). The staff were extremely helpful and the place was clean and comfortable. They also picked us up from the airport for $1 per person. There are loads of similar options all over the old quarter though - this is the best area to head for if you want somewhere cheap to stay.

I can recommend two. Wing Hotel on Hang Non St. charged $7/nite in Feb. OK, good location, basic restaurant/travel shop in the lobby. I stayed a week at the Real Darling Cafe, 33 Hang Quat St, $6/nite. They also have a dorm for $3/nite. I would stay at Real Darling Cafe again. OK food as well, travel agent for Hanh Cafe tours.

There are so many places to stay in the Old Quarter that you can always pick a hotel/GH for the first night and look at a dozen more the next day when you walk around. Switch if you see another you like better.
