vijayanand has indicated that this thread is about India

I am from India , came to US on a business visit. I am going back to my country. I have nearly some 2000 dollars where in I want to be exchanged back to Indian Rupees after I go to India. I dont wnant to exchange at airports as the exchange rates are very much cheaper. I dont have any bank account in US to transfer money to India thru bank.

Please provide me the various possibilities of transferring my currency in India. Eagerly waiting for your replies. Is there any bank where we can take hard cash in Dollars and they pay us indian rupees, if so is there any upper limit a bank will impose on us to encash US dollars to indian rupees.

Thanks in Advance

Hi Vijayanand
Hey i do not think that will be a problem . What you can do is carry the dollars in your person and once you reach india you can check various travel agencies and forex operators. They all have lucrative rate of exchange so you can choose the best. As far as i know there is no limit upto 10000$ that you need to worry about. My friend also brought around 3000$ when he had come from US and he exchanged it here in a shop in calcutta for much better rate
Hope it helps

Yes, I do feel the same.

That should not be a problem. But I am new to this.

Hi Vijay! There is no such upper limit. You do not need to have an
account in the US to transfer money to your account in India. These days more or less every bank is providing this facility to withdraw or deposit cash from any part of the globe provided you have a valid account here in India with any multinational bank. You can operate the same account anywhere.
