I've been travelling around Southern China for the last couple of weeks and would love to go to Tibet overland, by 4x4. It sounds like an absolutley amazing journey! I'm on my own so ideally there would be three or four of us to get a group together to fill the car. If anyone's at all interested or looking for an extra person to join their group, please let me know!!!

Hopefully hear from you soon!

How long does the overland journay to Lhasa take? Any idea about how much it would cost? Without looking at a map, I'm wondering if the journey would involve seeing interesting places in Kham (I assume Amdo is fruther north of the route).

It's probably not feasable since I'm sitting here in PA, USA. BUT I'm facinated with all things Tibetan, my visit there in 2001 is my favorite trip ever. I don't return to work until Sept 5th & have enough FF miles to probably get into the neighboorhood for free.

Hi! Come join!! I can't believe you have that many flying miles, that's amazing! I've attached an itinerary for the route, it's always pretty much the same so 7-8 days ( assuming all goes smoothly) and the cost is around RMB 5,500 per person if there are four people. As it stands it looks like there might be three of us ( 3 girls! :) ) ready to leave on the 14th/15th... can't really be done much earlier than that because we need to leave a full working week to get the permits ready. Nothing is defintite yet because we are all spread around China ( and the US!) and can only communicate online. But I have all my fingers and toes crossed. Come on, be spontaneous!
