Can anyone recommend any hostels in sydney as I don't know any and there are so many to choose from! Going 18th-28th Nov. Also what is not to be missed when I'm there? There's only so much a girl can do in 10 days tho! Manda

Hiya Mandy -

I've never hostelled in Sydney, but you're right in getting reviews before you plan. Check out http://www.hostelz.com/hostels/Australia/New-South-Wales/Sydney

Have fun.

Regards,
Michael

Glebe Point YHA is one of the nicest, coziest and allaround awesome hostels I've stayed at. Especially in summer, when the hammocks on the open rooftop are the superior way to relax from a day of sightseeing.
Glebe itself is an awesome neighbourhood as well. Great atmosphere. Very... "bohemian", with dozens upon dozens of little cafes, coffeeshops, used bookstores, restaurants and other worthwhile places like that lining the street, while still being just 5-10 minutes away from the city centre.

Another frequently heard recommendation is Wake Up!, right next to Central Station.

I definitely agree with Glebe Point YHA in Glebe!

I've stayed there a number of times, including quite a lot while on a working holiday a few years back, and again more recently for shorter periods.

Glebe is a nice neighbourhood - easy to get into the city either by bus (bus stop right outside the YHA) which takes 10+ minutes (depends on time of day), or walking past the fish market and onto Darling Harbour which takes something like 30-40 minutes I think.
