Hey everyone,

Hope some of you can shed come light on your favorite spots on the beach to chill and relax. I am sitting in Bangkok and have a month to "kill" before i do China. I am looking at going to either The Philippines or Bali to chill as i have done Thailand Cambodia and Vietnam already. Heard Boracay and the islands around it are amazing. But i have also heard the same thing about Bali. Not too sure if The Philippines are dodgy now or not. Hope you can help.
Cheers Jamie

Tioman Island in Malaysia. It's a nightmare to get to, but worth it.

Or you could hang about Thailand. Try the islands in the south - Koh Phi Phi is always a safe bet. Or if you prefer the tourist scene head to Phuket.

Cha-am and Hua Hin are also possibilities, not too far from Bangkok.

Since Thailand, VN & Cam. are out, I vote for Bali. Boracay is pretty, but too small to spend a month. Not much to do except hit the beach. Bali is a much bigger island and has more to do than 'chill' on the beach. Mountains, waterfalls, lakes, temples, culture plus the beach, Bali just offers more options.

I think Boracay is a bit hyped, it is beautiful (shame though that I live here and haven't been there yet) but you might want to try Bohol and Palawan (northern part or try the El Nido islands if you're not on a tight budget) instead. Heard from friends that the beaches are stunning, Panglao Island in Bohol especially. Plus there'd be other attractions too.

And nah, not really dodgy whatsoever at the moment. It's rainy season though so I'd suggest Palawan which is on the western part instead of Bohol/Baracay which is in the Visayas area in east-central (exposed to storms that might be coming in from the pacific ocean).

Good beach to chill for sure is BALI... It got ULUWATU, KUTA (kinda full of people though), and a nice private beach in KU DE TA... you should try the last one, it's a nice resto, lounge, beach that is private with white sands... good crowd, good wine, good DJ, good party... Definitely KU DE TA!

Pulau perhentian, Pulau Redang in Terengganu Malaysia is my recomendation. Nice beach clear waters and alot of fishing to be done if your are into it.
