ronhawaii has indicated that this thread is about Egypt

My first trip to Egypt will be coming up in September, I have read as much as I can on the internet and have purchased language cd's and still feel that I need to learn a lot more with little time left. I know that there are many of you who have visited and lived in Egypt and have some helpful hints, would appreciate any help you can offer.

Hi
first welcome to Egypt ..
Actually you do not need to learn the arabic language , Egypt is touristy country and and all people working in the tourism field speak english very well ..
plus it is not easy to learn arabic in such a little time ..
If you can be a little specific , that will be great , and I will be happy to help..

hey Ron
mate you have made the best choice ever, Egypt is a wonderfull country you will really enjoy every moment.
You don't have to worry about anything, as Didox said language is not a big issue as most of the Egyptians know simple english ....& if you are lost or need any help you will find anyone walking in the street want to help you...egyptians are the most friendly ppl.

BUT (ALTHOUGH i'm Egyptian & i've to advise you as this is a bad image to my beloved country)in most of touristic areas trying to sell you things & trying to do you services for money ALWAYS bargin with them ...what they offer you for l.e 50 tell them you will pay only l.e 20 ....& by the way this is not only happening in Egypt its in everywhere.

anything other than that is OK ...hotels & motels & even hostels you can google for best prices , about places to visit it depends on your taste we have everything ( pharonic , roman , cuptic , islamic , natural sites) , for transportations buses & trains & plans for internal trips are fixed BUT taxis is not.

Food, we have everything from Macdonald to local Fool ( lol not fool its our traditional food's name) & falafel.

hmmm i think i've mentioned everything ...if you have further questions PLEASE ask.
CHEERS MATE

Someting like "maffi mushkli" is no problem, that's very helpful in those countries.
