Hey Angie,

Ah Perth, never been there but only heard good things about it... main thing I guess is what your definition of exciting is. The people I spoke to loved it (kind of the same crowd who love Melbourne) just because of it being laid back, the weather being good year round and it having nice atmosphere in general. If you have the time and money, I would include it. If you don't have either, then there isn't a lot of work going on in Perth (I guess you are on a WHM visa) and it is a long ways away from anything!

If you are looking for adventure and partying, you can pretty much stick to the 'backpacker trail' up the east coast and down the middle. The most work is also in Melbourne and Sydney.... might be of importance somewhere along the line :)

Cheers and happy travels!

Hi Angie
If you have the time, I think Perth is a definite 'must'! I've visited there a few times and it's an awesome city - ocean on one side and river on the other. It's probably not a huge party city (although there are a few good clubs) - but if you're into a laid-back, beach-side, drinking a beer in the sun atmosphere then it's your place!
If you are over there you must also visit Rottnest Island, off the coast of Perth.
The only downpoint, as sdaams mentioned, is that it's a long way from anywhere so unless you're going to spend a bit of time there it might be a bit out of the way.

Have fun!
Cheers
