I flew to Sydney with Virgin Atlantic just a few months ago. They're pretty good - they often go round offering drinks (juice/water), and you can go help yourself at any time, the food is ok (as far as airline food goes), the entertainment system is good (films & tv shows in demand - plenty to choose from).

They fly Airbus A340-600 planes on that route with a 2-4-2 seat configuration in most of cattle class (2-3-2 I think when you're closer to the noisy end).

I would recommend them for sure, although the scheduled 90 minute stop at Hong Kong (I did that both ways, within 2 weeks of each other!) can seem a bit short so I would suggest looking at doing a stopover for a couple of days in Hong Kong.

In regards to Oz Intro, there is a lengthy thread located here.

MojoRob, seemed to answer it all, so I will just add a few points since you asked. I have not flown on Virgin but I have heard good reports about them. The Australian governments is currently looking into a lot of these Visa supply systems and I would make sure that you check them out thoroughly before handing over your cash. Since you are from the UK it is not a big deal to set all those things up though your local embassy and the rest when you arrive, it just takes a bit more time. When my other half moved here from Canada we did it all through the local Government facility, it too longer but save her about A$2000 in fees. Setting up a bank account is as easy as walking into a bank with you passport and visa and it is done. For members of Commonwealth countries it is easier to complete these steps and if you are under 30 even the Work Visa is relatively easy. This is our official government webist for some more details http://www.immi.gov.au/. Hope this helps.

Hiya,

Flew Virgin via HongKong and they were brill. Have flown Emirates, Quantas, Gulf Air, Malaysia etc. to Oz and they're one of the best. The inflight stuff is cool and I would agree with Mojorob that a stop off in HongKong is highly recommended (if a little bit costly)

Mate, you've read me openly make points about them, and having answers made in regards to this. There are quite a few people who are going through, or have gone through, them who use this forum.

My intention was never to get people worried, detract from Oz Intro, or to lose them people. It was always so I can promote them if I feel they're ok.

so do you now think they are? i can understand that you did not meen to cause alarm but for someone reading that who has or is thinking of booking with them then it does start a panic. however i apreciate your reasons and think you would be a good representative for companys like them.:)

Yes, I believe Oz Intro is genuine, and the people behind it are genuine too. If I haven't made it clear on that thread (I can't remember to be honest) that I think they're genuine, I can do so if you think it might help.
