Can anyone suggest a good route to drive from Northern Kruger up to Botswana? I want to avoid Zimbabwe...also any good camp sites along the way?
Thanks

ehm... it is actually pretty hard to get from kruger into Zimbabwe, as there's only one borderpost. From how far North in Kruger do you travel? As far as Punda Maria or Pafuri? Or Letaba (which is more or less halfway the park)?

the options:

From Pafuri (most northern gate): follow R525 until you hit the N1, take it north to Musina. This is the only place where you can go into Zim. But you should take the R572 towards the Mapungubwe NP. Just after that you can go into Botswana, that's a minor crossing. For a bigger borderpost, follow the 572 until Tom Burke, and take the N11 north towards borderpost Martin's Drift.

From Punda Maria: just follow the R524 to Makhado, and from there the N1 to Musina as above.

From Letaba: take the R71 to Polokwane. From there you can take the R521 that leads you to Mapungubwe NP or the N1 south until Mokopane where you can pick up the N11 towards Martin's Drift.

Hope this helps a little. I haven't been camping in that region, so I wouldn't know camp sites...

Good luck!

Not much help, but just as proof that it an be done, we drove through Johnson something or other, and camped in a great place 2 hours over the boarder - it was a 4 star hotel with camping grounds, you can use the hotel facilitites including the swimming pool.

We then headed north into Zambia (eventually)

Sorry this is really bad advice, but least you know its doable!
