I am planning on heading to Bangkok in early November. I am travelling alone and really beginning to freak out about it. Have no ticket booked but like you am about to change that. I want to stay in thailand for a few weeks, check out the islands and then all i know is i want to travel through cambodia, laos and vietnam. I plan on doing this for about 3 months and then heading to OZ from Singapore for 3-4 months then onto NZ, Fiji, Cook Island and finally USA!
Go book that ticket (please tell me to do the same!!)
I really don't know much about Asia and hoping on meeting people who will show me the way! I guess we may be in the same area in December, keep in touch and we can maybe hook up..not that i'll be much help to you but the offers friendly right?
I'll be flying into Kuala Lumpur on September 30, heading over to Malaysian Borneo until around October 15. I'll then head to Bangkok for a few days before heading to Myanmar for a few weeks. I fly out of BKK on Nov. 12, so if you think we might cross paths at any point, let me know.
Spent 2 months in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos - you will have no problems getting around and people are very friendly. We travelled in group but met loads of lovely travellers along the way. Highly recommend Sapa in North Vietnam. Beautiful area and you can get an overnight train up.
