Hi

We stayed in Indra Regent Bangkok. Very central, very nice (especially the breakfast), huge beds! (and of course, aircon!)

Maybe try their website, or a travel agent.

Enjoy Thailand.

My brother suggested D&D just off Khao San Road where he's stayed a few times and says is pretty good, and as it's nr Khao San Rd, will be near bars etc. Not sure how much it is, doubt it's much more than £10 per night - well, hope not as it's where I'm staying for my first few nights!

I stayed at the New Siam guest house near Khao San. From what I remember it was about 450 baht (CAD $12) per night for a room with a fan and hot water. AC is usually available for a few bucks more. It was clean and conveniently located, but definitely not fancy. I think their other offerings (New Siam II and Super Siam), which are in the same area, are a little more upscale. You can check them out at http://www.newsiam.net/

Hi , we stayed at the Stardome Inn just near Khaosan road, it was nice and clean with a variety of rooms differing in price the dearest being 780 baht a night, but we stayed in a cheaper room 580 baht and this was just nice, as I say it is close enuf to the bars but not right on the doorstep.
Hope this helps.

Honey Hotel, on Sukhumvit Soi 19. Hotel has a pool and air-conditioned rooms. Within walking distance of lots of bars and vendors. Easy access to the Skytrain, the Skytrain can take you to many areas of Bangkok real easy and cheap. ([email protected])

Sukhumvit Crown Hotel, near the Nana Skytrain stop (you can see it, the brick building on the even side.) The Sukhumvit Crown is between Sukhumvit Soi 6 and Soi 8 one block back. Figure 570 baht per night for fan only, with private toilet and TV. Air Conditioned rooms available at a higher price. This hotel has a storage room, they will let you store stuff there for free, they expect you to return and book another room with them when you come to pick your stuff up. I have left bags there for several months at a time. ([email protected])

Suk 11 Hostel, on Sukhumvit 11. This hostel is popular with backpackers. Rooms do fill up quickly. Real close to bars and restaurants, street vendors, travel agents, etc. Nana Skytrain stop nearby. Google Suk11 and you will get lots of hits.
