Hey Guys!

Im torn between either spending my money on the Galapagos for a liveaboard tour and to dive.

But i've heard great things about the Blue hole in Belize. I have only time and money for one....

What do YOU reckon???

Thanks!

That's a tough choice!! I am assuming that your trip will revolve around diving?

My decision would be based on how much diving I really wanted to do. The live-aboard is going to give you a maximum number of dives in a shortest period of time. They usually include some on-land trips for sightseeing too. I don't know if you have any operators in mind, but my husband and I have looked at these two as possible trips in the future:

Galapagos Aggressor
Peter Hughes - Sky Dancer

If you want to split your time between sightseeing and diving, then I would choose Belize. Belize has been working very hard to bring in more visitors by offering a large number of different eco-tours, such as the rain forest canopy adventures and others. (And, the Blue Hole looks sooooo interesting!)

The only other issue that really plays into my decision about live-aboards - how much time do I want to spend during my trip with the same people. Don't get me wrong, I like people - but I'm not sure I want to be on a boat for a week with the same ones and spending the majority of my conversation time discussing diving. The divers I know who have done the live-aboard trips have loved them for the number of dives, but most also have said once was enough just for the experience. They, too, felt "stuck" with the same people and every discussion returning to the subject of diving.

Good luck with your decision - let me know what you choose to do! ;)

I think the Galapagos are far to interesting to spend the hole time underwater.
Friends of mine went there diving on the Agressor, the have not visited the amazing Islands.
And the funny thing is,the work as Diveinstructors the hole year!
the are addicts in my eyes....
Galapagos is not easy to dive, you should be an advanced diver because of the currence,it is also cold.(that is was I was told)

I had visited Galapagos 3 years ago but not for diving,I enjoyed
the animal life there.Faaaaaaaaaaantastic!!

do you know the Divers -Paradise Bonaire?

sunny greetings,
Marlis

There another objection to be raised against scuba on the Galapagos, which is the damage to the environment that unexperienced divers are sometimes known to cause. So, depending on how advanced you are, I'd say better go to Belize :-)
