pdate has indicated that this thread is about France

I will be travelling to Paris next week and through Eastern Europe in July and August. I am looking for tips and suggestions on finding budget accomodation urgently for Paris and not so urgently for Eastern European countries. I would not mind spending upto Euros 60 for a double and would prefer to find a clean place in the city center. Does anyone out there have any suggestions for Paris? How about other countries like Croatia and Slovenia coastline, Prague, Budapest .. ?Thanks so much ..

In the Latin Quarter and St Germain, just south of Notre Dame, you can find cheap motels for 35-40 euros a night. There are also ones around the Louvre and the Eifeel tower that are 50-60 euros a night. Do a search on either this website or hostelz.com.....you'll be able to find something (they have low budget hotels and hostels there). Even if you can't find anything (and I do recommend reserving in advance) you will be able to find cheap, available rooms if you're willing to walk around a while.

There are hostels you could stay at for less than that, but the question is if you are willing to share a room with 7 other people.

I'm just looking at my Let's Go 2003 guide, and there are lots of budget hotels in Paris for under 60 euros, but make sure that they include a bath. A lot of hotels charge extra for a private bathroom.

Good luck! :)

Cheers,
Katie ;)

Hi pdate,

u can try the etap or formule 1 hotels in paris. They are generally low budget hotels, with prices from 35 euros onwards.

Hi pdate

u have enough info on paris so heres some on the East.
well actaully my best advice will be Budapest.

I stayed in a hostel called the yellow submarine. i think near the western trainstation - I was on my way from Prague so it must be the west station.. Advise though it is a party hostel. not the cleanest and the kitchen is always in use until late at nite for drinking and hangin out. But during the week a bit quieter. I thought it was great personally and didnt want to leave - stayed an extra week..and stil in touch with many of the poeple i met there.

if u want a quieter experience - i heard there was a hostel on the Buda side of the Danube that catered to a more laid back crowd. not sure though.
