just a message to any people out there who might be heading to a stip jiont in thailand ,,, got an email from my friend who is across there now.
he claimed he was out on the town and "somehow" ended up in a strip club.To cut a long story short he found out that the girls often place some sort of drug on to there breasts and when it is licked off the customer is then helpless to being robbed,,, now i dont know if this is true for my friend does have a habbit of getting rather drunk but he swore blind that this happened and is commen.
personally i think he was just smashed, plus shouldnt have been in there in the first place,,,, ha ha serves him right.

Yes, happens all the time! Also, be careful after paying for your drinks when you see the waitor or waitress hand you the change for your bills on a small tray! They soak the bills in some kind of chemical that renders you brainless for a few minutes while they clean your wallet out! If when you pay for your bill and the change comes out on a small dish - leave the bills on the dish just to be safe!

Unfortunately this tale is true. Several years ago there was an article in the BKK Post on just this topic. Ladyboys were putting knockout drops on their nipples and robbing the guys that passed out after ingesting the drug. The real downside to this behavior is that several men died from the drugs used. Thailand may be the 'Land of Smiles', but they have their share of criminals as well.

I don't know anything about Ladyboy bars, years ago when I would sit at the Carousel Bar in the Nana, I would cover my beers so the "short and curlies" wouldn't end up floating in my glass though!

Scotty 85, just don't lick any Ladyboys - anywhere!

For real, when I am in a new bar I get my drink and pay for it immediately. When you have a few too many beers and you run up a tab - some tourists don't notice the extra drink receipts placed in your charge container. In a new bar that you suspect of being a little "dodgy" pay for your drinks as they arrive and you can leave immediately any time you want to!

I don't doubt any of these stories, but many of the tales you hear would seem to fall under the realm of urban myth. However, one thing you DO need to watch for in bars, especially the go-go joints with overpriced drinks, is when you get change back. Make certain that the denomination of your bank note is noticed. If you are giving them a 1000 baht note, for example, you might want to verbalize that fact so that there is no disputing the fact if you are shortchanged. And this DOES happen more than you would think. Also, some bars like to give the change in coins, thinking that tourists will just leave them as a tip. Well...don't. If you are paying an outrageous price for a beer, there is no need to fork over any more money - coins or not - to some aloof waiter or waitress. And ten-baht coins can add up to a very nice tip if you leave the whole bunch.

Emma, Emma, Emma - it's a joke! ;);)

Most of the bars in Bangkok give you the change back on a little dish or in a folder!

Just to repeat one of the previous warnings - if you hand the waiter/waitress a large bill like a 500 or 1000 baht note - DO point out to that person the value of the bill! This way you won't get screwed on your change. If I have a 1000 baht note I sometimes just walk over to the cashier and ask her to break it down for me. Usually no problem with the cashier, they understand why.

karazyal is right. I take it a step further and only take enough money for that night. Have several hundred baht in smaller notes when you hit the bars and avoid cashing larger bills altogether. It just does pay to flash serious money in bars. It also saves you from temptation. If you only have 300bt on you, you cannot be swayed by some Thai ladie's charm! I save plenty of baht with that trick!

Heard the story hundreds of times....never seen it happen or even read about it recently.....it just seems to surface every now and then....what is the drug they use?
some people do recieve spiked rinks, but why not spike th drink rather than wipe a dangerous drug on your own body?

Man... Been to Thailand twice this past year... Bangkok and Pattaya is the destination... For sure, don't LICK anyone's BREASTESSES cause in Thailand you might not know if its a girl or a boy, don't go and play with LADY BOY, don't drink too hard that you'll get so drunk, you don't even remember if you slept with a GIRL or BOY... That's my RULE in Thailand... other than that, it's a safe Haven for anyone that goes there...
