Hi there ..
Well, Mykonos is ... the ideal place for party-animals! Very expensive though ... Why not visiting other islands .. in a country with soooo many islands ! Try Paros, or Amorgos (amazing beach). What about Milos (excellent beach too), or Lefkada (Ionion Sea - incredible beach). -snip-
For more info .. just ask !

[ Edit: Sorry, no promos please. ]

Well ... it depends on the season .. like everywhere ! But it's not easy to find accommodation for ... less than 50 Euros in Low Season (May and October). High Season is definitelly a lot more expensive, as well as all other things (eat, drink, tickets, etc.) The fact is that you can find similar or better beautiful islands in better prices. But a search on the internet will give you the precise idea.

I flew onto Mykonos and then headed straight off to the other islands as I was told that it was very expensive. Paros is lovely. The cheapest accomodation is to camp. Some people don't even take tents as the campsites usually have an undercover bit of sheltering. Its warm at night so you don't necessaily need a tent except if you want more privacy.
Anti-paros is also worth a visit!

Take your drivers licence with you and whereever you stay hire a vespa as you see lots of the island that way!

Well, Mykonos is realy a very special island, and you should not miss it. I have been there more than 20 times. What I like best is the amazing beaches, the architecture, and of course the nightlife. It is more expensive tha other islands, but if you are careful and shop around you can manage on a relatively tight budget.

For budget accomodation I strongly recomend Myconos Camping in Paranga Beach. I stayed there in June. You can rent an extremely basic hut, camp, or stay in a dorm. The site is located in a great spot overlooking the beach.

There are a lot of room owners waiting at the port when you get off the boat offering all sorts of rooms. Be very careful, and never give any money before you see you room. You could also contact the local hotel and room association, for offers and prices.

Hi from williamt
We are arriving Athens by ship for only 1 day. Would like to know if there is a Hop on Hop off tour bus in town, and how close the port is to the center of Athens. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You!

I'm a pro Travel Photographer and all I can tell you is about 75% of all the Greek Island shots you see in posters, ads, etc are either Mykonos or Santorini. The entire small town of white washed buildings/homes (Mykonos) or on the side of a steep hill (volcano edge) Santorini. Why do they use these islands all the time? Cause they're BEAUTIFUL !!! Have been to both MANY times and find them totally charming. Mykonos is really heavy on the tourists in high season but what do you expect? No way around it but go when it's cold and windy.Mykonos has a very active nigh life but it's not Ibiza (not yet, hope it never gets that bad). On both Islands I would stay in the town centers and take the buses to the beaches during the day. Use the ferry's (over night to Santorini). I would also recommend the islands of Corfu, Crete, Rhodes, Hydra, Paros, and a few others. Get a travel book with photo's on GREEK ISANDS. Even though Myconos floods with tourists it still stays totally authentic in certain ways. The old people of the island don't seem to be affected.Just wonderful islands in a simply WONDERFUL country. Could easily stay forever - great food, great wine, great people. Zoom''

In regards to Williamt - the port of Athens is called Piraeus and its easily accessible by the metro from the centre of town which I think takes about 20-30 min??

According to Lonely Planet, Athens does have Hop-in Tours. If you're keen on tours, I would recommend that over a sightseeing tour. Alternately, most of the major sites are accessible and nearby the metro stations.
