Hello again guys, been out today buying backpack etc ready for my trip. While in town i decided to pop into STA Travel for an insurance quote and the lady informed me that i might have visa problems getting into Thailand from Laos...

Basically - starting in Cambodia (30 day business visa), i hope to extend this for another 30 days while in country (tourist visa) and also sort out my visa for Vietnam in Phnom Penh. After Vietnam i plan on travelling to Laos but would like to apply for the 30 day visa, rather than the 15 day on the boarder, can this be arranged in Phnom Penh as well??

As i dont have a departure date set i was planning on getting my flights home organised in Bangkok, but i was informed by the STA employee that Thailand want let me in unless i have proof of departure??

Sorry for all the stupid questions, was hoping someone could help me out with some advise as i assumed i could easily get a 30 day tourist visa on entering the country??

hey
i have travelled twice into thailand without an onward ticket, never been asked for proof although they can ask at any time if they want to, they may also want proof of funds...

30 day visa for laos can be arranged in hanoi, vietnam... we even got ours back on the same day...

vietnam visa can be arranged in cambodia, not sure about phomn penh but i do know you can get it in sihanoukville near victory hill beach

Owen,
Phnom Penh is a capital city, yes you can get your Lao & VN visa there. I use Lucky, Lucky Motorcycle Rentals on Monivong for my visas. They do it in 1 day and charge you $3 extra. It is well worth it to avoid going to the VN embassy, fill out everyting, leave your passport and come back in a few days. Let your guesthouse or Lucky do it and avoid the stress. PM me if you need additional info.
