Hi all. I'm planning to go to Vietnam late October-early November with 3 other friends. We're from the Philippines so I hope you consider that (since some things you're going to suggest we might already be familiar with).

I'm having a hard time planning the itinerary on which beaches to visit. Before I get on with the beaches question though, would you recommend a day trip to the Mekong Delta? Is it really worth it?

So, we're staying a number of nights in Hoi An so we will be able to visit Cua Dai beach. I have a number of beaches in mind, which among them will be best to visit?

Mui Ne beach
Ca Na beach
Ninh Chu beach

Also, we will be coming from Cambodia before going to Vietnam. How many hours is the trip by bus/taxi from Siam Reap to Phnom Penh and what times of the day do the buses leave? Is there only one bus from Phnom Penh to Saigon that leaves everyday?

Thanks :)

Ann,
Take a look at my photos and decide about the Mekong delta. I vote 'yes'. It is only a day trip from HCMC and it is an interesting day. Same for the Cu Cui tunnels. You can do a 1/2 or full day tour. worth seeing.

Now beaches. I vote Mui Ne & Nha Trang. Not been to the others. There are also some nice, quiet beaches north of N.T. You will stop at Doc Let beach on the bus from Hoi An to N.T. for a bathroom break. This is the day bus, night bus did not stop there. Doc Let is just too quiet for me, but perhaps with your friends, it would be OK.

Now the bus. I think all the buses from Siem Reap to PP are private guesthouse buses. Not scheduled gov't bus. Check around once in SR, several GHs run them or partner with one that does. Around 7-8 hours. There are more options between PP-HCMC. At least 3 private GHs run a daily bus, also Ho Wa Genting goes 3 times a week from the Central Market. There are also share taxis/vans. Figure about 8-9 hours from PP-HCMC now that the road is better. PM me if you more details.
