Rights to bear arms is an interesting topic indeed!

I agree Brenda(n),
In my humble opinion you should be able to defend your life and those loved ones, and to a lesser extent property.
However, the idea of every tom, dick and harry having guns, grenades etc.. scares my shitless.
In the UK you have the right to defend your property as long as you only use reasnable force (very open to interpretation on what this is), but the EU Human Rights act phohibits you from defending your home unless you have been attacked.

It seems European politicians and judges use this Human Rights act to look after the criminal instead of the victim. I would say that if you infringe on another persons human rights (i.e. carrying out an illegal act on another person, threatening actual bodiely/property harm)you forefit your human rights and get what ever is comming to you.

As discipline in western society crumbles and the so called civilised nations fall deeper and deeper into the black hole that soon they will not be able to get out. There must be some readdressing of the balance between doing "whats right" and the "live and let live" that we have today.

Am I correct in saying that the majority of gun murders in the US are caused by people having their own guns used on them?

7. Posted by Jase007 (Travel Guru 8870 posts) 10y

Could be right on that one.
I don't seem to remember ever a recorded event when a gun has actually killed someone though.
It's usually the nutter on the end of it either firing a bullet or two or bashing it into someone.
A gun is harmless when left alone.

Of course, but if guns are allowed to be freely owned then you will have gun crime.

Don't ban the gun, ban the person or their access to the gun

If guns exist, they will fall into the wrong hands - no two ways about it.
