Quoting Peter

... I could start leaking them to you one by one, but that seems cruel. ...

You can start being cruel now, Peter! We don't mind!!!

Ok, I now have all the winners' photos at high res and am therefore happy to announce them. The initial twelve did change somewhat due to permissions not coming in and a couple who unfortunately were unable to supply the photos at a high enough resolution on time.

In any case, the results are good and I think will be the makings of a very nice calendar.

Without further ado, I present to you the Winners of the 2006 Travellerspoint Travel Photo Competition.

Very very good pics; congrats to all that got voted in (and of course the winners)!!

Congratulations to all the 12 winners and the two special mentions. Very good photos indeed.

Not forgetting the remaining 36 other photos that got voted in. Those are very nice too! ;) It was a very tough job for us to vote only 12.

I am glad the winners have finally been announced; now I can brag to my friends and family that two of my photos made it into the top 12! Though, seeing all twelve photographs listed together I am humbled that my photos were considered good enough to be amongst some fantastic shots. Luis Dafos' photo is a worthy winner.

There is a good variety of styles in the top 12, and I can't wait to get my free calendar. Looking at these photos makes me wonder what makes a great photo, and why where these ones voted for rather than some of the other great photos that were also short-listed?

Yeah, that's interesting isn't it!?! I thought for sure the one with the older womans face would get high marks but maybe I was the only one :) It really was hard to pick 12 as there were some fantastic shots! I think the ones standing out by not being too 'standard' fared especially well.

Congratulations to all the winners!

That said, wow, I really have different tastes in photos than all of you. I voted for only one of those. (Not that I don't like all the others - far from it - just that I liked 11 others better.)

And the very important sheep should totally have won grand prize and been on the cover! (What? Me having been in New Zealand too long? Whatcha talking about??) ;)
