after reading posts for a while i think its time for me to start writing as well...so anyway as you all saw i am from athens, so if you have any questions and i can help, just ask me.. i think there will be a lot of people coming this summer for the olympics...
so i am waiting for your questions
hey sportbilly (i loved that show when i was a kid ), here's an easy question to get started with. what's the best/quickest /cheapest/sunniest way to get from the airport to piraeus port?
well it depends of when you are planning to visit athens
at this period, the only way you can reach the port from the airport,
(without taking a taxi) is take a bus... you can use the E96 bus which goes from the airport straight to the port of peiraias
if you have enough time to spare, and you want to see the centre, there is the E95 bus from the airport until syntagma (which is also the end of the line). from there you can go to monastiraki, the famous flee market of athens, which is exactly under the parthenon and the acropolis.. it is a very nice walk to do..from monastiraki you can take the train until peiraias, where the port is located
.. about the money. the only expensive is the bus ticket from the airport.. i think it costs around 3 e.
the train ticket costs 0,60 e
but.. if you are planning to come around august, we will have so so many new means of transportation.. there will be a suburban train from the airport and also a tram and probably there will be a lot of new lines to chose from but i cant tell you nothing about that yet coz i dont know about the money and the routes
here is also a link about the train and the buses..
