Aloha everyone,

I just found this place, looks like an interesting place to visit and chat about travel.

I'm a Large Format landscape photographer, living on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I've been here about 9 years, and while I love the islands, it is a bit too crowded here. So, I try to travel to places far from crowds and the hustle of city life. Most of my travels in the past few years has been to Australia and New Zealand, but I have managed visit England, Germany, Canada and Jordan as well. I'm off for my 7th trip to Australia in about 5 weeks, and I hope to have some interesting things to share from this trip.

Hi Robert!

Welcome to TP!!

Large format landscape photographer - very cool! Do most of your travels involve work or are they more pleasure in nature. (Sorry, no pun intended.) I think you need to make a trip to the US - we have lots and lots of "landscape" to photograph.

Have a great time on your next journey and welcome again!! ;)

Thanks Isadora. I mostly travel to take photographs, but there are places where I go just to relax. However, to be totally honest, I find taking pictures to be relaxing.

I travel to the mainland US occasionally; I'm scheduled to shoot at Joshua Tree NP in January. I find that most of the US has been done, and that many in the US have no real knowledge of anything outside the US. So, I try to bring what I see back.

Australia is one of my favorite spots, and I have couple of projects there that I am working on. One of my long term projects is to photograph the length of the Murray River (I'll be in Echuca in October). Later in the month, I'll be on a road trip between Adelaide and Alice Springs with a local photographer, and I'll spend about 10 days photographing around Alice Springs.

I'm trying to do these trips while I can. It is getting very difficult to travel with large format equipment; the film can be almost impossible to get locally (so I carry it with me) - all of which has to be carried onto the airplane with me. Film can't be checked (it will be destroyed).
