THanks everyone for their advice..

Planning is tricky...

as my time is very limited I think I will just do HCMC and Hanoi.
I will actually only have 9 days in the country.

Does anyone have any recommendations for Hostels or Hotels in either HCMC and Hanoi? Preferably ones that will be able to help me organise some tours of things in the region...

Thanks
Andy

what kind of hotel would you like to stay in Ho Chi Minh ? mini hotel, budget hotel, 03 star hotel, 04 star ..so I could suggest you the right one.

and is it located in the center of the city or little far from the main street ?

Mini Hotel is around USD 15 - >35 not including breakfast, but you have to book in advanced.

03 star hotel : over USD 45 ++ including breakfast, it is main street.

05 star hotel : USD over 89 ++ ( coporater rate ) I could help you to book under my company coporate rate. for mini hotel I could give you the contact so you could book it by yourself.

For your domestic flight I could give you the travel agent ' s email that I often book. they is are a good service and very helful in the high season. let me know if you would like to have it.

I would be happy with a hostel.
I have found one called the "Yellow House"..

I would like your travel agents email address please.

thanks

I'm thinking I might cut SAPA out of the tour and do Hue instead...

Andy,
I stayed at 'Real daring Cafe' at 33 Hang Quat St. Walking distance to the old quarter in HaNoi. Good location, decent room & food, travel agent in the lobby. $6/nite. They rep for Hanh cafe Tours. I went to Perfume Pagoda, HaLong Bay and the open tour bus to HCMC with Hahn Cafe. Decent price and decent buses. I will use them next trip.

In HCMC there are dozens of mini hotels in the Pham Ngu Loa/De Tham St. area, BPer area of HCMC. Fan rooms are $6-7, a/c rooms $10. I stayed at 'Dong Hotel' in an alley off De Tham. Quiet, OK fan room, TV, for $6. Travel shops up and down the street.

PM me if you have any questions.
