travelling is for everyone not just the young and fit. We are in our 60,s and have travelled to India/Malaysia/Nepal/Thailand?All countries in Central America/Canada/U.S.A./South Africa. We organise our flights and first two or three nights stay, then its off and on, with the help of the Lonely Planet books, to discover far flung places. Do not be afraid if you are "over the hill", providing you do not mind a little bit of haggling and the odd dodgy place to stay, you will find such pleasure in doing your own thing. The worst holiday scenario for us would be on a SAGA holiday, pampered and pushed around. As I said before, travelling is for all ages so get out there and enjoy yourselves. Stokesy
Like your style, stokesy!
Who says we have to stop enjoying what the world has to offer after a certain age??? People who are bored out of their heads sat at home watching their lives slip away from them with nothing to show for it probably!
It would be a shame to do that. I sure hope that I don't stop having fun and adventures any time soon!
All the best
Welcome to TP!!!
You can't be too old or crinkly to have done all the traveling you have mentioned!! And I agree with Kim - I like your style! My husband (Beerman) and I trade off on our style of traveling from time to time. We are both divers and sometimes just want to be pampered so we chose an all-inclusive (without the "pushing around" stuff) that includes diving. Other times, we choose a place, book our first and last night at a hotel and then just wing it. We've found some dodgy places and we've found some gems - the gems usually outweigh the dodgy.
Anyway, welcome again and see you in the forums!
Many thanks to Keb and Isadora we are going on another trip in Feb 2007, flying into Bangkok, 10 days in Thailand, then on to Cambodia and Vietnam before flying home from Ho Chi Mihn City 6 weeks later, have just booked 7 days in Hua Hin for a spot of R & R before some serious sightseeing then we shall wing it from there. Maybe we shall see some of you there?? Stokesy
Us young things don't have the money to travel like you old crinkly things. The way things are going I'll be in my 60s before i get my next holiday!
Welcome to TP Stokesy old chap.
Hope to see you around.
Welcome to TP Pat!!
Yup, as Isadora said.....
The important thing is to retain that sense of youthful adventure, regardless of age. It keeps one young, in spirit anyway!!I know the bones creak a little more than they used to, but few kids have my experience!!
Welcome from an up and coming crinkly.
There is one magic world out there, and you are going for it.
Enjoy Vietnam (one of our favourites) and maybe think about Myanmar some time in the future.
Welcome to TP! You guys are an inspiration... do you have room in your luggage for a few TPers from oh, say, Canada??
See you guys 'round the forums!
Welcome to TP.
I hope I have the opportunity to travel like you guys before i turn 60's.....
Hope you enjoy your stay here in TP.....
