I'm on my way too Grand Cayman Island and I'm flying from Copenhagen Denmark. Since I'm on my way there to work and I have a work permit I only need to get a one way ticket. However, the cheapest way to fly is to bye a ticket to Miami and then a one way to Georgetown. To avoid the problems a one way ticket to Miami might cause I've got a return so I need to get my luggage and make a new check in at MIA. Now to the question. How long time does it take to get through customs now days in Miami? I arrive at 5:30 PM so I need to know when I'm likely to ready for the next flight.
A 2 hour connection time is usually what is recommended by most travel agents. I've been through MIA many times, and wait times can all depend on how busy the airport is, and how many flights land at the same time as you. 2 hours is a comfortable amount of time...better too much time and have some to spare than miss you flight!!
Thank you Cruisegirl.
I got myself a flight the next day instead. I'm in no hurry and felt that it's better to be safe than sorry. This way I also get time for a beer in Miami.
Yes, beer and relaxation for until the next day...no stress. Excellent plan!
