I love doing yoga. I find it helps to keep me sane. I was curious if anyone has ever traveled with a yoga mat and whether or not you would recommend it. I thought that it may take the place of a sleeping mat like campers use. It could quickly become a big hassle to lug a yoga mat around, but its hard to get into down dog without one!

Anyways, as I ponder what to do I got to thinking about what other random things you travellers can't go without. Does anyone have an interesting/ out of the ordinary item they don't leave home without?

I wouldn't bring my yogamat. It's harder to do some positions without the stickymat, but it's not impossible. If you really need something sticky, buy those old school gymsocks with sticky feet or something! I really don't think you will be thankfull for bringing the mat. You'll hardly ever need it as a camper, and you don't go by your regular habits when travelling.

You'll always find your way around to get it your way with what you have at hand at any time, so don't bother, you'll hate your backpacker after a while as it is!

:) I do downward dog "anywhere" - my favourite pose as I can feel the good effect immediately when I'm doing it. If your hotel room is carpeted, you can easily do yoga there. If not, you can still do it on the floor, only you might not be able to stay in some poses for long.

Don't bother with the mat. It'll be more of a hazard than a nesecity. I do yoga anywhere. i've even done it on a beach, without a mat. As long as you can remember to poses, why take extra? Practise without the mat, and you'll get used to not having it before you go.
