johnmess has indicated that this thread is about Greece

Two of us are coming to Athens for the Olympics. We will be there from Thursday August 19th until Saturday the 28th. Does anyone know of any where that has a room for us?!!!

John

hi there,

i am currently trying to piece together a list of fairly cheap hotels & hostels in central Athens which I intend to make available (with contact info & perhaps availability&prices) in this forum for you and everyone who wishes to travel here for the olympics.
Just be a bit patient, I should have it ready by mid-next week.

hi,

i found out that the places i knew about where available on the web already anyway, so below i have some links for you, in case you don't know them already.

http://www.bootsnall.com/hostels/eu/gre/ath/
(hostels - there is limited availability)

http://www.virtualtourist.com/vt/6833c/
(hotel search engine with quite a few links - from 5star to 2 star hotels)

http://www.grhotels.gr/english.html
(they have a link to a hotel database http://odysseas.gnto.gr/hotels/
the same link you can get from http://www.gnto.gr/1/05/0502/ea0502000.html - the Greek National Tourism Organization website - also has other useful info)

https://www.filoxenia2004.com/reservations/members/IntUser/main.asp
(here you can rent houses that are up for rent during the olympics, but you may have to email them to get an answer)

http://www.athens2004.com/athens2004/page/legacy?lang=en&cid=13b8470429149f00VgnVCMServer28130b0aRCRD
(athens 2004 official site -CRUISE SHIP ACCOMMODATION!!)

http://www.interland.gr/athenshostel/
(athens youth hostel)

Obviously a web search gives you about 1000000 links to choose from. I would suppose that the House rental and the cruise ship accommodation programs would have more availability as they are not well-known outside Greece, but that would also depend on your budget.

sorry i can't be of much more help

Hi Clueless and John,

Just so you know, the Bootsnall link you refer to offers exactly the same as what is available on Travellerspoint under www.travellerspoint.com/budget-accommodation.cfm (hey, if they get a plug, so do we...) as we both use the same system (there is only one really for budget accommodation online).

Bookings using the broader online systems that have several thousand destinations are going to fill up pretty quickly I am sure (if they're not already) so I would have a good look at specialized greece ones too.

Cheers,

Sam

Hi,

I have an apartment to rent. It's in a nice area with good night-life and shopping. It's a suburb of Athens very near the Olympic Stadium. It's also well linked via public transport to other Olympic venues and downtown Athens.

Here's a link with more information about it:

Cheers
