I'm sure this must have been asked before but what are people's favourite countries and the one that have had the most effect on you? Which was the place that stole your heart?

For me it has to be India, I think everyone who goes there comes back in some way changed. It threw all my preconceptions of life and human behaviour out of the window and its a place i'll never forget. Can't wait to get back there some day!

For me India as well. Been there twice. India works on all the senses and therefor addicting to me. But its not for everybody.

Its a crazy country...you will travel there with a big smile. The people from India have good humor. Mainly you go to india for its culture not to see beautiful cities and landscapes. The cities are overcrowded and are kind of filthy (but fascinating).

A favorite destination is a product of then current life circumstances, a person's age and health at the time of visitation, the amount of both domestic and foreign travel engaged in by the person in question, the historical time-period when the person visited the place in issue, the type of travel arrangements, accomodations, and eateries encountered, and whether or not special memories emminate from particular occasions or moments. In other words, a favorite destination is a mixed bag of both objective and subjective logic, impressions, emotions, and memories. With that in mind, and I have literally toured the world for over 5 decades, Bermuda is the spot. It is close to the U.S., but exotic in a British sense. It is small in size (21 square miles and shaped like a fish hook), but large in amentities, excellent hotels, restaurants, shops, entertainment, and historical sights. It contains fantastic beaches and vistas, plus contoured winding roads perfect for moped riding. Tennis, golf, and watersports are at anyone's front door. The periodic arrival of cruise ships adds excitement to the island. The entire place has a sense of history about it. Things can be relatively expensive, but the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming toward tourists. But then, my memories are colored by wonderful experiences while there. I first visited almost 40 years ago when I was a young pup with my parents. Later, my late wife and I honeymooned in Bermuda. Subsequently, we had wonderful times there with our son. The recollection of dancing with my new bride on the patio of the Four Winds Inn while a combo played and the sun set over Hamilton Harbor is one of the great moments of my life. Good experiences and warm memories; basically a place that exceeds expectations and continues to do so, has a good chance to be anyone's personal favorite place.

For me i'd have to say Bali eaaasily. Just some of the best scenery, Some of the nicest beaches mixed with volcanoes and rice fields, english speaking locals are some of the most friendly people ive met(thats most of them).

terrorism has caused havoc in this place and probably stopped thousands of people from visiting... its an absolute dying shame!!!!
