I am planning a trip across italy around the 2nd week of october. I plan to rent a car for the trip as i plan to visit a lot of places.
i plan to take the car in Milano and return it in genova.
which are the best and the cheapest places to hire a compact car and also what are the things which i should look into, like insurance etc.
thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.
gary just remember to have enough on your credit card to cover any eventuality
there are some reasonable rental places in italy. you could try europcar.com but be very explicit if you take insurance with them and ask for a detailed receipt when you collect the vehicle. my copy of the receipt looked nothing like their copy, but they were a lot cheaper than hertz and avis.on ly had a problem with the office in florence.
a national italian one is https://www.e-maggiore.it/portal2/cmd?mnu=maires maggiore, again cheaper than hertz and avis and they offer a drop off in genova.
if you have any travel insurance look very carefully into whether it covers car rental etc. why pay twice? also get to grips with what the SKO, CDW, terms are etc.
you can opt to fill the vehicle on return or pay a fee to waive this.
