Aussie icon Steve Irwin of Crocodile Hunter fame was apparently killed by a stingray while diving in Queensland today.

I was very sad to hear this. He was always a great ambassador of Australia and his passion for nature has inspired a great many people. Not only that, but he always appeared to genuinely be a nice bloke.

Good to hear other people actually seeing all the good Steve Irwin did. I "fell" for the guy when I visited Australia Zoo with my son. Irwin wasn't there himself but we had a very good time there, it was great seeing the animals in the zoo. The people there were extremely friendly - like everywhere in Australia - they even drove us to the station when we'd missed the bus ;)

Yes, a great loss that Steve Irwin is no longer among us!

I havent posted or visited this site for a while but upon hearing this news, i immediately thought of you guys on the forum.

I cant believe whats happened - i was only watching him on tv yesterday and laughing and joking with my sister over his larger than life persona.

My respects to his family.

Crikey that SUCKS!!!!

I cringed when I saw Steve in full flight for the first time, but in time, I realised he was 100% authentic and 100% passionate about our wildlife and conservation. I became a fan of Steve. Through my line of work I meet 1000's of tourists and they ALL loved Steve Irwin. He was an incredible ambassador and won't be so easily replaced....Keep his dream alive and give generously to his cause.

You're with your Dad now mate, I'm sure his proud and happy to see ya, but we're sad to see you go :-(

Crocs Rule!
