Probably depends on what kind of hostel you like. I've been to Millhouse once to pick up a friend who stayed there, and I profoundly hated it; packed, noisy, smelly. But other TP members seem to like it fine. I'm a fan of Nomades hostel and Hostel de San Telmo, both located on Carlos Calvo. They're a bit run down, but staff is friendly and the whole atmosphere is just a bit more personal. Plus they have fabulous roof terraces (but maybe Millhouse has that as well).

A bit further afield, I'd recommend a place called Girasol or something; it's in alto Palermo (Güemes, I think). I got it from another thread in this forum, and although a bit pricey, it was alright. And my latest discovery is Santoril, on 1 block from Congreso (Av. de Mayo 1389). Cheap, clean, friendly, but packed with Israelis.

good luck,
Niels

Ditto, avoid the Mill House like the plague! Hoards of Irish and English backpackers on the piss!

I stayed in Tango Backpackers in Palermo and loved it. Palermo is a really hip old part of the city, situated near all the best bars and restaurants (in my opinion). Ive since recommended it to lots of ppl going to BA and have heard some good feedback from them too.

Its on the corner of Thames and Paraguay in Palermo in a lovely old building. The rooms are all upstairs and well away from the bar downstairs so you dont get much noise there. Good bar staff.
Has a nice roof terrace where they have bbqs at the wknds.

Cant really say anythng bad about this place, except the bathroom floors are always wet!

Hey Niels.

Sounds like it was my post.

That name would be Giramondo and it's on the corner of Guemes and Fray Justo Santa Maria de Oro (hope I got that right, de Oro for short) in Palermo, 1 block away from Avenida Sante Fe.
