Try Hotel 88, which is close to both the CBD and the airport. I think it starts at about US$25 per night - thats very cheap for Singapore :).

I been to the The New 7 Storey Hotel. Clean & cheap. Near MRT (Bugis) stations, food court & shopping mall. Below is url to this hotel.

I heard good things about Hotel 81. was told by a local to go to the one in Chinatown as there are at least 6-8 Hotel 81's out there. Locations to consider include along Orchard Road, Suntech, Chinatown, etc.

erm .. a bit belated but you these hostels may interest you (if you're on a backpacker's
type budget). they average S$18/night for a dorm bed, including use of various facilities
(such as internet access, breakfast and DIY laundry). good if you like to meet other
travellers.

hangout @ mt.emily is between Little India and Orchard Rd (shopping mall district). within
walking distance / short bus ride from both places and the train station.

The InnCrowd is in Little India. Within walking distance from a train station too. They just
moved into a newly refurbished 'old' building.

Betel Box Hostel is in a quaint area in the eastern part of the country. Also close to the
train station and has good bus network to get to most places (there's a fairly
comprehensive bus guide on their site).

Hey Jordy,

I am just back from Singapore a couple of days ago. I was also on budget. I would recommend you the hostel I stayed at: A Travellers Rest-Stop in Chinatown. It is very nice and cheap. SGD18 per bed (4-bed dorm), SGD30 for single private room, SGD49 for double room, SGD52 for twin room. (I can even remember the room rates!) You can use self-service laundry, broadband internet, read travel books at the lobby/facility room, rent bicycle..

The neighbourhood is safe, close to a mini mart, shopping centre, MRT station (and it's the interchange station so it's more convenient). The rooms are clean, the hosts are very nice and helpful. If you want to go somewhere but don't know how, ask them and they will assist you.

Hi there,

I think the best one is the one Zags recommended. Either that or Hotel 81 Chinatown.

These 2 are both near Chinatown with easy assess to MRT and lots of buses. Also, the neighbourhood is quieter than places like Bugis or Geylang.

All are safe (Geylang, Bugis etc.) places coz Singapore is generally a very safe... even in the middle of the night.

Don;)
