bzakka has indicated that this thread is about Guatemala

I just got back from Volunteering in Guatemala and have been looking for a job in the States... I listed the organization I worked for as a reference, but when the people I was trying to work for called to confirm that I was there, they said that they do not keep records of volunteers and therefore couldn't confirm that I was there. Consequently, I didn't get the job. Well, maybe other resons too but this is the one i'm blaming

Naturally I was like "what the funk?!"

Is it normal for these people not to keep records of people who worked there is my place just lazy?

Anyway, I just needed to vent.

I'm sorry to say I've heard talk about stuff like this before...
especially if you go down to Guatemala on your own and find an organization to volunteer for instead of signing up "back home" before you go..
Why this is so?? Poor organization, no funds and I don't think this is a priority in most cases I'm sorry to hear that this was at least one of the reasons you didn't get the job!
Good luck with the job hunt!
Mitti

btw which organization did you volunteer for??

Well, I don't want to name names because it really was a good organization with good people. It just erks me, that's all. It was still an awesome experience and I'd do it again in a second.
