Most countries of South America, south eastern Asia, Africa, are very cheap, at least for a North American or European traveller.

I've only been To Cebu, Philipines. But, it was very cheap.Total cost was $3100 including flight from Canada for 3 weeks. Rented an Appartment furnished for $300, went to Bohol by Boat and back and rented a taxi for 8 hours one day, plus ate 3 meals and bought souviners. Ate out almost every meal x2 people. Rented taxi for tour around cebu etc etc. My money went so far. Bought clothes, sandals pots and pans. All for that price.

I'm sure India and Philippines are dead cheap.

Cheapest I have been is non-touristy bits of Indonesia - again, about $4 a double room and $1-2 for a decent meal.

I can't imagine anything being cheaper than India. Of course I haven't been everywhere, but of the parts of South America and the many countries in Asia I have been to, India was by far the cheapest.
