G'day,

Santiago is my first stop on my SA trip and i reckon its probably best to book a hostel in advanced. I will probably be there for only a couple of days. Does anyone have any reccomendations as to good hostels?

Cheers in advance.

Shaun

Hi Shaun! :)

Was in Santiago for a couple of months and stayed in one or two places. Hands down best place was called "La Chimba" in the Bellavista area of the city.

Its more like hanging out at someones house with wide screen tv, glass coffee tables, comfy sofas, a little dog running around. Ian, the owner, is great and will give you fantastic recommendations for cheap and interesting places to eat around the city.

When I was there he was in the process of building a website, but I dont know if it's up and running yet, but I do know that you can book the hostel through Hostelworld.com.

Hope that helps, and if you stay there be sure and say hi to Ian for me! ;)

x
Evelyn

Thanks evelyn,

La Chimba caught my eye when i was looking around - looks like a good place to start my trip with a good vibe! I think i will need that rather than a scroungy dirty place - i spose i will hit these up further in the 'bush' on my travels of which by then i should be able to handle them!

I'll book shortly!! 4 weeks to go!!

Cheers

Shaun

Alright said hi to Ian for you Evelyn and he returned the favour by saying you are a very nice lady and that he remembers you very well.
Im staying at La Chimba at the moment and have done for the last 9 nights. And i agree with everything you mentioned about La Chimba.
