Dear All,

I will arrive in Kuala Lumpur the 13th Of October at night (9 p.m) and from there I will need to travel as soon as possible (even in the night) to Hat Yai.

I have seen that the Singapore, KL, Bangkok train leaves from KL before my arrival in the airport and I wanted to know if you have suggestions for me.

I heard there are buses but I could not find out from where they leave and when.

I would really much appreciate your help, thanks in advance,

Elisa

Hi Elisa,

I suppose when you say 9pm, it's arriving at KLIA? By the time, you get to KL, you would have missed all the night buses ( and the train as well!) to Hatyai...The last bus out is 10.30pm/sometimes 11pm. If you are already in KL by the time, then you will be able to make it.I see no problem.

Looks like you can only board the bus for the 8-9 hr trip to Hatyai the following day!All buses leave from Puduraya Terminal.

But there is a new bus service direct from KLIA TO IPOH.From Ipoh, you can get the first bus out to Hatyai, and it will work out about the same (in terms of arrival time) if you were to take the bus or train from KL to Hatyai. That is if you are in great hurry!

Taking into account you 9pm arrival, you can either take the 10.00 p.m or 11.50pm bus which arrives in Ipoh at 1.30 a.m, 3.15 a.m respectively. You have to be at level 1 , gate 4 (15 minutes b4 departure time)

It's the YoYo Bus...sounds weird! Yes,this is their email:[email protected], [email protected] The other is Triton Express. Its counter is located on the ground floor of the car park block C at KLIA.

Cheers.

Hi Dana,

thanks a lot, that's very helpfull. Last thing I would need to know regarding the bus is if it stops at the border police office as I will need to get the entry permit from the Thai Police?

Thanks a lot again,
Elisa

The Bus will stop at the Thai Border, at the Thai Immigration. They are giving you the visa.

This is the website of a Bus Company going from Kuala Lumpur to Haatyai. They have a own Platform in Pudu Raya, so no big hazzle searching for your Bus.
You are not going to get the Last Bus at 10:30 PM to Hatyai. But there are Buses comming from Singapore or Johor Bahru going to Haadyai and they reach about 12 Midnight or 1AM at Kuala Lumpur-Pudu Raya

So why not contacting the Bus company and ask them if there is a bus passing by, and they might do a reservation.

Hi Elisa,

MazDev maybe right...the only problem is bus companies here have not reached the stage where you can make a reservation by phone or email. You have to get someone or you go in person to make an inquiry and book the ticket prior to date of departure. It's a risk they are not yet ready to take. You can't get anything in black and white...Since you are in a hurry to get to Hatyai, the best option is to get to half way point (Ipoh) from where there are many buses heading for Hatyai, if not direct, at least via Penang. Either way you will be in Hatyai b4 noon. From where the YoYo or the Triton bus stops in Ipoh at 3.30am, you can hang out at the 24 dim sum shop to catch the first available bus to Hatyai.

Worst case scenario, take bus to Changloon ( close to Thai border), from where you can take buses/mini vans/taxis all the way to Hatyai. It might cost you a bit more. There is a Chinese restaurant where you can get this done, including your immigration forms.

Well, my two cents worth!

Well, thanks again.

Now things are clearer. I sent an email to the addresses you gave me and from one I have already got an answer.

I think I will have no problem as the last bus from KLIA leaves around midnight.

For the rest, I will let you know once back from Thailand and Malaysia.

Enjoy the rest of the day wherever you are,
Elisa

I don't recommend the link below: Sri Maju Stay away if you speak English!
They seem to be Malays working for Chinese and have terrible manners.
They hung up on me several times while I tried to get prices and schedule info.
It looks like they have nice buses, but I would never want to deal with the people.
They seem very uncool to the international traveler.
