I'm just finishing my apprenticeship and have decided that rather than staying on and settling down in a job...travelling would be better!!
now i finish in early may 2007 and am thinking of leaving immediatly after that. really just looking on advice budgets (how much to take with me?).
one thing, im not planning on buying a RTW ticket. my plan is to buy a ticket to my first destination (SE Asia probably) and then work over there for my next ticket, and so on a so forth until i get bored and work for my ticket home lol.
Does anyone think that this kind of trip would be possible?? or is too much of a risk?
Starting to get a headache thinking about it...so i really need some experienced advice!!
i think this type of trip would be possible ,but would reccommend applying for some long stay visa's at the various countries along the way before you set off , some countries reserve the right to refuse entry without a return ticket and or you may have to prove you can support yourself with a set amount in the bank , i believe it is rare you would get stopped though .
hope this helps
p.s i have just applied for several longstay visa's they are cheap and take about 5 days for the turn around
Visas are very important! A lot of countries do not allow you to fly in on one-ways so always check. This kind of trip is totally possible- I just did it! I never bothered with an around the world ticket because plans change. I worked in Australia on a Visa and then went from there. My only advice would be to try and plan it at least a little- it will save you a lot of stress. Figure out which country you want to work in, and also remember that the last thing you will really want to be doing when you are out there is working. I downsized my trip from one year to 7 months while I was out there because I decided that my passion was more in seeing as much as possible, rather than dealing with visas and working. It all depends on what you are really after.
