Some friends and I are planning to go round the world next year (we will all be 18). However we do not have much money, we were only planning to go for 5/6 months and would stay in cheap hostels, eat cheap, and buy cheap beer. Generally, not living a life of luxuary. We were looking at a pretty simple trip, i.e. north america, oz, nz, thailand ect. How much money do you think would be the minimum we'd have to take, after having bought the ticket? Replies Please!!!! Tankooooooooo!
Hey guys sounds like a brill idea , ive just booked my tickets yesterday for this route going very soon (cant wait). the thing is i aint got much money either like 2k or 2.5k max. but sure so wot if im really stuck i'll ask for food, sleep on the streets etc!
London - Bangkok, overland to Singapore, Melbourne, Auckland, Fiji, Santiago, overland to Rio De Janerio, then back to London all for £1325. not bad i thought , a little over my budget but i can stretch it this time - i had planned for a £1000 max for flights.
2-2.5k? WOW! I'm reeeeally over budgeting. I'm going to Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Greece, Rome, Spain, Italy, and I've budgeted 50-100 dollars a day for 5-6 months which is like 9k (min) to 16k (hopefully max).
What am I doing wrong? I guess I'm figuring to much for food? I figured a cheap hostel runs at least 15 bucks a night in the cheaper countries, and like 20-30 bucks in europe etc.
I would reeeeally like to hear how I can do it for less! Camping??? I found some camp sites that are like 10 bucks a night in Australia, But I'm not sure I want to lug around a tent?
ooohhh my goodness.....I would love to get away w/ spending less than 5k!!!!! I hope other people have some advice for us!
oh yeah..I'm leaving next month, so I'll be in Europe during winter, don't know if camping is going to be a possibility
