Hello,
my husband and i are planning to go to Italy around Thanksgiving. However we don't know if this is a good time to go? Any advise as to whether the time and weather is good would be helpful. Also we are a little lost trying to figure out where to go. We would like to do Rome, Venice, Tuscany and more if time allows. We want to go for about 10 days. Should we get a car there? How many days should we stay in each city? what site should we see? we want sort of a off the beaten path vacataion. We usually do beach and islandly vacation so this is goign to be very different and obviously a lot more research..
any advise would be much appreciated!

Thanks much!

Hi,
you made a good choose ;)
November usually here is good, still not cold so you can have a marvelous holiday :)

Rome is a marvelous city and you can visit there Colusseum, Navona Square, Vaticano. You not need to rent a car because all is near so you can go with bus and with metro without problems.

Venice is marvelous too, San Marco square is really fantastic, but venice is more expansive.

About Tuscany, I advice you to visit Florence, where you can admire Italian art ;)

I think you really not need to rent a car, you can go from a city and another city by train, it is not expansive and when you are in a city, is better to be without car cause there is much trafic and is better if you move yourself by bus.

If you have only 10 days, you can stay 3 days for city, I think are enough for to visit all.

If you need to know more, ask me without problems ;)

late november could be rainy and cold. during last years we had beautiful september and october, warm and sunny. sometimes nice season can last until mid november. later, season can be worse.
you can spend 3 days in rome, 2 in florence and 2 in venice, moving by train between a city and another. i suggest you to avoid in any case to rent a car in cities, especially in rome. you need a car only if you wish to visit out of beaten tracks villages, f. e. in Tuscany, because many areas are not well connected by public transport.driving in the countryside is safe, I can't tell the same for driving in the big cities.

Hello,
I think november is too cold and always rain!!! even south part,
I think the best period is September or April, the weather is perfect and is not too busy.
Ps In november you can find the best price! for hotel or B&B .
