We are not really up to a pub crawl, but strangly it always happens when we go out together (no, actually last time, we ended in the hospital). Is there a scientific reason for this behaviour??

Yes their is - enjoyment of beverages in copious quantities

I'm well aware of the impact, alcoholic beverages have on the human brain and body (repeatedly done self-testing), but why does an innocent evening with those friends always turn into a drinking contest? Should I stop seeing those friends as they have a bad influence over me?

Often happen, when you go out for a sociable drink - get plastered, go out for a session - stay sober.
Change friends? no way as long as your enjoying it, change banks so that you get a bigger free overdraft maybe

Thank you so much for your help, i will follow your recommendation and stick with my friends (they are actually the only ones I have ) Better being drunk with friends, than staying sober alone, no??
