Anybody got experience with one way tickets to Argentina? My travel company are advicing against it, despite the fact they are selling me one...!

Does it really matter if I land without proof of onwards travel, or can they (who that might be!) be arsy about it?

Proof of onward journey is an official requirement to enter Argentina, but I've never heard of anyone being sent back. I go to SA regularly, and mostly buy an 'open-jaw' ticket, flying in via one country and exiting from another, that's usually fine with immigration anywhere. I'd recommend it, also because a simple one-way ticket is just much more expensive.

see the attached Email I got back from the Tourist Info people in Argentina when I asked them the same question.
You can make your own call then. I'm going One-Way with a print out of my bank statement and some credit cards.

Buenas Tardes,
You´ll haven´t got problems. The return ticket isn´t necessary. You can visit Argentina for 3 months and if you want, you can ask for another 3 months.
Have a good trip

Subject: One Way Ticket ?

Buenos Dias,
I was wondering if you could inform me as to whether I would be allowed through customs at the airport in Buenos Aires if I am carrying a One Way ticket only i.e. I will not have an Onward ticket?

I plan to travel overland therefore will not be flying out of Argentina. I am a British Citizen.

Any information would be gratefully appreciated,
