Hi!

What places and sightseeings typical of Paris should you visit? Anything from churches, restaurants, famous landmarks, local places etc.

Thanks,

Martin

Well, I'd be guessing you'll want to see the Eiffel Tower?

Also:

1) The Musee D'Orsay (my fave museum, more so than the Louvre)
2) The catacoombs
3) Pere Lachaise (sp?) cemetery
4) I like monmartre/sacre coeur, though it is rather touristy
5) For authentic, not to expensive eats the Latin Quarter is a pretty good bet.
6) I like the Pompidou centre.

add to that:

The Rodin Museum (small museum with garden with sculptures by Rodin)

Versailles (bit out but worth the trouble)

Sainte-Chapelle is amazing if you don't mind the crowds as is the tomb of Napoleon in the Invalides.

I shall mention Notre Dame. Very impressive church.

And while I never went in, I understand that the Louvre draws more than a few tourists. Personally, the lines were too long for me.

Luxembourg Gardens is a nice places to walk and sit and people watch on a sunny day. Another favorite walk of mine was Promanade Plante, in the 12th, which is a 4 mile long old elevated railroad that has been converted into a nice park.

I second Pere Lachaise and the Catacombs. A Bateau Mouche ride is also a nice way to get your bearings and learn a little about the city. Honestly, walking anywhere in Paris is simply beautiful. You'll be surprised every time you turn the corner.
