I recently had a holiday planned for me and my mate to go up to the Gold Coast, sunshine Coast and Cairns for a couple of weeks but this plan became foiled once my mate broke his arm and had to have a couple of operations just days before our trip.

I could have gone by myself but it wouldnt have been fun and would have messed up the plan a lot.

has anyone been in a similar situation? if so how have you dealt with it?? i.e just planned another holiday asap or just gotten over it.

a few years ago found a round trip ticket from LAX to Zurich for $310.00 usd including tax. I snatched it up before checking with other half. unfortunatly it wasn't a trip I could talk my dear wife into. usually she is very understanding and agreeable to my need to blitz. not this time. so I sat there, and watched the ticket to zurich expire... what a heart breaker that was

After my study, I wanted to go to Costa Rica with a friend.
Then he met a girl and all of a sudden he did'nt want to go anymore, which I can understand a little bit. The tickets weren't booked by the way.

The solution: I booked my plane tickets to New Zealand and Bali and had the time of my life.
So thanks to that friend and his girl, who, by the way, are still together and have kids!

It happend already twice that I couldn't go travelling due to health issues just before. Once it would have been my first trip to SE Asia with some friends for 3 weeks, and I had a virus and was in the hospital back home the entire time my friends had a good time in Thailand.

Second time, I had a free flight to Istanbul from my miles and just got a very high fever 2 days before and I ended up not going, I actually wanted to go to the airport but I was hallucinating on the way there...I don't think they would have let me past customs anyway, must have looked to them like a drug addict or person who caught the avian flu.
