Its a good idea to get an overnight bus to BA and just sleep through most of the journey. Go for a coche cama - really comfortable and easy to sleep!

The journey takes about 22 hrs from Puerto Iguazu to BA. From Puerto Iguazu you can see the Arg. side of the falls. From there its easy to cross to the Brazilian side. Alternatively, you could stay in Foz do Iguazu on the Brazilian side but it's more expensive. ;)

Overnight bus is the way to go. Via Bariloche provides excellent service; don't be tempted to take a direct bus from Foz to BsAs, though, since that's quite a bit more expensive.

Accomodationwise, I'd also go for Pto Iguazu rather than Foz. Besides being cheaper, I didn't find that Foz do Iguacu had much going for it.

ps: if you have time, consider making a few stops in between the falls and BsAs. The provinces of Entre Rios and Missiones have a number of interesting 'attractions' where it is still possible to avoid other western tourists.
