Hey all,
I'm planning an Amtrak train trip on the Southwest Chief from Los Angeles to Albuqueruqe. Has anyone done this route before? Second, I've heard some great things about Albuquerque, but is it a possible to visit without a car? I know that things are pretty spread out, but are there other means of getting around (light-rail, bus, light walking, etc)? Third, any recommendations for things to see/do in Albuquerque?

Thanks!

Hi, Dan, and welcome! Albuquerque is a great city. When are you planning to be there, because the International Balloon Fiesta is always around the first week of October. Well worth the trip. (I wrote about it in my blog.) As for getting around, there are busses for public transport. Check with their Chamber of Commerce or visitor web sites, such as www.abqcvb.org, and the Balloon Fiesta has a web site, too, at www.aibf.org. - Rebecca
