Hi all,

I am just wondering if anyone would like to offer their personal opnion about whether Coogee or Manly would be a better place to stay in Sydney? I understand that this comes down to personal preference, but having no knowledge of Sydney and having found comparable accommodation in both I am having trouble picking one over the other. Just wondering everyones opinion about say which is better for exploring the Sydney region, or which one is a better beach!!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

I lived in both for about 6 months a piece and both have their own respective attractions.

Manly is more secluded and we found we spent more time socialising around Manly than in the city as it's a bit more of a trek to the city than it is from Coogee and if you are working in the city Coogee is defo easier for commuting.

If I was to live in Sydney I think Manly is more beautiful and great craic but for back-packing and meeting people I'd go for Coogee.

Coogee is easier for getting in and out of the city and especially getting back at night.

All in all both are beautiful and have their positives and depends on what you want.

Personally, I prefer Manly (because it is a stones through from Freashwater Beach which is my favoirtebeach in the world). The disadvantage of living in Manly is the commute to the city. You either catch the ferry, which is not cheap if you are doing it daily, or the bus that goes the long way around and you are destined to get stuck in traffic - over and over.

Coogee pub really kicks off and is full of travellers so if you are hoping to meet lots of people, work in the city and live slightly cheaper, I would say Coogee.
