Hey ive just decided today that im going to go to australia lol. the thing is im planning to go in under a month is this possible ive qualified for a whv had a look at the flights and insurance etc im going on my own and want to head to perth or sydney first and move on from there any suggestions? also ive seen a website called ozintro and they do a package for £329 (829 aud)it seems a good option as it will help me find my feet and meet people what do you think? lol please help!!
Have you applied/got your WHM visa yet? According to the DIMA website at the moment (I looked a few minutes ago) there is currently a delay in the processing of these visas.
OzIntro will help for you to meet people, and will provide things to do during your first week. You can also meet other people in youth hostels, particularly ones that cater towards working holidaymakers. I found Glebe Point YHA in Glebe good for this.
I have never been to Perth so I cannot comment on that. Sydney is a good place to start; it has many "must see" attractions.
If you stay in a popular hostel, it would be very easy to meet other travellers and get travel information. I don't think you need to join a packaged program to find your feet; it's actually quite easy to get around in Australia.
hi mate, im leaving in six weeks and have booked up with ozintro, already been in contact with a few of the others going same dates as me and think that the service they supply is well worth the cash when you count it up seperatly the cost of doing it all youself not to mention it takes the hasstle out of it all. but the main advantage i feel is meetin people for the first week like i said im already talking with a few of them already. hope this helps mate.
You can definatly plan the trip in a short time.... I think I had about 5 weeks between deciding to come and getting on the plane!
Sounds like you've got alot of the tough stuff done already.
I decided to come out on my own and start in Perth. I first stayed at the Billabong Hostel http://www.billabongresort.com.au/ie/index.html
And I cant rate it highly enough. The staff were great and within 2 days I was going out on the piss with a bunch of guys i'd met around the pool table!
It's pretty easy to find work in Perth too. I went with a marketing company that did promotions for charities.. they were always looking for backpackers and as far as I know still take on anybody whos cheerful and likes to talk.. firstname.lastname@example.org
Whatever you decide to do have a great time!
do it and i hope u have fun
