I am going to Croatia this week. I plan to get to Split and head up to Zadar along the coast. Does anyone have any recommendations for small towns in that area. Also if there are any good clubs or hostels in Split/Zadar.

On your way to Zadar you definitely should not miss a visit to Trogir and to the Krka National Park. Other places of interest include the Kaštela-chain of villages just north of Split, the village-peninsula of Primošten, the town of Šibenik (though it's really only the cathedral that's worth a visit otherwise don't bother going there) and some may appreciate the completely barren Kornati islands (though I do not think so, because once you've seen one barren island, you've seen them all). The Kornati islands can be reached on excursions from both Murter and Zadar.
Zadar is an excellent place. It's a lovely old town with a pleasant laid-back atmosphere and also an excellent hub for a visit to the surrounding destinations, such as the Plitvice Lakes N.P., the Paklenica N.P., the Kornati islands N.P. and the Telaščica bay.
In Zadar, I can recommend the youth hostel and the Arsenal (great loung-bar).

try to visit zagreb - the capital and maybe all the way down - dubrovnik but it depends on how much time you have.. i personally really like zadar. if you want to experience village life, just take the bus along the coast and get off in a small village, ask for accommodation - that shouldn't be a problem at this point and try to bargain for the price (in summer time you usually pay 30-50 euros for a double room per night, so now it should be cheaper!!

otherwise arsenal is ok, but depends on the night (what's on the programme) and of course what kind of a music you prefer. you can find lots of bars with commercial music, but i haven't found a real alternative place down there.. people are fancy wannabe. grils are pretty though ;)

otherwise the guy before gave you great tips!

have fun!

Has anyone heard of the Hotel Scaletta in Pula? I want to stay there since it's in the middle of the town but I haven't read any reviews online about it except that it's a 2-star, possibly ONE! I'd like to make sure it's nice and clean. Thanks!

What I can see on Internet, it is a small hotel and the rooms are looking ok, but what I would reccomend is that you ask the receptionist to show you the room before the booking:)

Thanks for replying, Nikolina!

I basically booked via email but didn't give any info.. so I guess I could still change my mind after seeing it.

Thanks a lot!

I went to Croatia and didn't even go to Pula. I decided to stay in Opatija instead since it made more sense. It was an easy cab right to my boat in Rijeka.

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this country!!!! The entire country - the coast and Zagreb were amazing. People are very nice, too.
