In feb 07 I head to South America for eight months with my boyf' (dutch), we're trying to decide between a one way or return tickets, we like the flexibility and opportunities that a one way ticket would give us but has anyone done it ? was there any problems at borders or with visas?
There's a number of threads on this; have you consulted them? Bottom line is that the "proof-of-onward-journey"-requirement seems to be a mere formality these days, and that no immigration official ever asks for it. Nevertheless if they don't like your face or anything, it gives them sufficient reason to deny you entry, so better play it safe. Also, return tickets are just much more cost effective.
just realised i hadn't replied to this thread (was in italy from 4-10th and not on line) after i sourced the information, but thank you for the prompt,
though i know it would be cheaper for a return ticket when i do a cost benefit analysis on the places we could end up in and the time and cost to get back to the start it is more appealing and of an equal cost basis to go one way.... well for us anyway....
