Travel Forums Europe Day trips in Switzerland

I am currently living and working in Switzerland. On the weekends I like to go places for the day. I'm here for another 5 weeks and trying to think of some more interesting places to go. I am alone so I like to go places where I can walk around and look at things. Anyone have any good ideas? I am on the East so I could go to Italy or Austria as well, providing I can get there/back in a day.

I have been to places like Basel, Luzern, Zurich, Appenzell, Locarno...

Ideas?

On a nice day you could go to the "Ballenberg Museum". It is a nice openair museum with original houses (about 100) from different parts of Switzerland. It is only open until the end of October.

please check http://www.ballenberg.ch/e/index_bb_500.html

I don't know if you have been to Konstanz in Germany a very nice place as well.

I don't know if you have seen everything of Zurich already, I've heard they have a good english speaking tour a couple times a week. I don't have any link to that.

As I don't know in what kind of activities you're interested it is quit difficult to recommend something.

cheers,
kat

Thanks, I went to Ballenberg a couple weeks ago for my birthday. It was really neat, I'd suggest it to anyone.

I haven't done much in Zurich as far as sight seeing. Just been there on two occasions for random activities.

I don't know what I like doing...I am alone so I like just walking around. This is my first time travelling alone so I'm not yet very good at finding things to do.

Have you taken a look at www.myswitzerland.com?
They have some great suggestions, especially when you click yourself through.

I suppose you have already taken some of the scenic route trains. If you haven't why don't you do that and combine it with a trip?

I stayed in a city called Lauterbrunnen in February. It is a good point to go to Jungfraujoch (http://www.jungfrau.com/en/desktopdefault.aspx).

The city also has a waterfall that was frozen when I was there, but it seems nice on the pictures. We also went to Murren and Wengen from there to ski.

Geneve is a pretty city and I went to Annescy (France) from there and had a good time. The same for Bern.

Enjoy
