I can't afford to stay in Riad and expensive hotel in Morocco.
How can I book budget/cheap hotel in Fez (Fes) and also Tinehir online. My budget is less than USD 20/night.

Please advise.

Dear Prakdis

I think if you're budget is under $20 a night, you're going to have to take your chances! There is accommodation in Morocco for the price you are willing to pay, but they are generally not the sort of establishments that will take an online reservation.

If you can stretch your budget a very slightly, the Hotel Batha in Place Batha, Fes, is fantastic value - little over 300Dh a night for a hotel with a bar, restaurant (if not a good restaurant..) and a pool. Tel 035634860

Alternatively, try the Youth Hostels; though I'm not sure if Tinehir has one.

Thanks Mark,

I've made a booking for 2 nights at :
Ibis Moussafir Fes - 3*

with a good price at Euro 22/night. It's near the train station which is good as I'll arrive by train from Tangier.

I wish next time I can stay in the Riad :)

Thanks Mark

A bit late now I guess but still, Hotel Du Commerce in Fes el J'did next to the royal palace has doubles with access to the balcony looking into the courtyard of the palace for about 10 euro! Not exactly luxury but still in the thick of things and only a 10 minute walk from the big bus station for private buses... Keep it in mind.

Stuart :)

That last post was a blatant bit of self promotion. I was lucky enough to see it before it was taken down, and have to say that it looked like a very pleasant place to stay in Tinghir.

I know it's against the rules etc, but sometimes posts from small riads and auberges are actually useful.

Isn't there somwhere on the forum where owners can leave their rates and details?

Tripadvisor does this, but only with a raft of supporting paperwork that many of the more rural places won't have.

My apologies for wandering off the point...

I deleted the post as it was indeed nothing but selfpromotion.
Although this topic is about asking budget accommodation, there are indeed rules and unlike the post before this one it was rightly flagged as spam. The former was based on experience, not selfpromotion.

We do have an accommodation link here on TP and accommodations (like on tripadvisor) can be reviewed by members as well. Those reviews are shown in their profile and in the respective accommodation.
